Role Overview & Responsibilities

Salary range: £54,949 - £61,823

FTE: 1.0 (35 hours per week)

Term: Open

Closing date: 5 March 2023

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) link forward thinking organisations with the UK’s world-class research base to deliver innovative projects led by inspiring graduates (www.ktp-uk.org). KTP projects are funded by Innovate UK and supported by the Scottish Funding Council.

The West of Scotland KTP Centre has been developing successful KTPs for over twenty-five years and has the largest portfolio of projects in the UK (around 50 active KTPs). The Centre supports five partner institutions (within a 3 mile radius) to engage in the KTP programme: Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow School of Art, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, University of Glasgow, and University of Strathclyde. The Centre’s office is located at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow City Centre.

The regional model is unique to Scotland and allows the sharing of knowledge and expertise across partners as well as providing a convenient entry point for organisations looking to undertake a KTP project. The West Centre has strong links with similar regional Centres in the East and North of Scotland and undertakes numerous collaborative activities.

The current Director is moving on and so we are looking to appoint their replacement to lead the Centre in its next growth phase. The KTP programme is about to enter into a period of growth and the post holder will be expected to maximise the benefit to our partners. The Director will provide leadership and influence the delivery of KTP across Scotland. The Director will manage the Centre’s high performing team and liaise with key contacts across our partners and the wider innovation ecosystem to promote KTP and the services of the West of Scotland KTP Centre. The role is office-based in Glasgow with travel across Scotland and occasionally to others parts of the UK.
