About the Role

Base Location: Glasgow, Perth, Peterhead, Aberdeen or Inverness.

Salary: £37,600 - £56,400 + car/cash allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing.

The key duties & responsibilities will be:

  • To support the Project Manager to deliver the programme of works, particularly relating to statutory and legal obligations, Health and Safety, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, Quality & technical compliance, personnel and industrial relations.
  • Develop an effective close working relationship with the appointed contractor and the operations team to ensure the works are delivered on time and to the highest quality.
  • Key deliverables include earthworks, civils construction, building construction, air-insulated switchgear installation, transformer installation, earthing, building supplies, gas-insulated switchgear and busbar installation and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure that strong relationships are developed with contractors, suppliers and the community to ensure that all site activities comply with consents and programme delivering to SSEN environmental goals.
  • Have a clear understanding of the safety management systems, best SHE practices and SSE Large Capital Projects Governance process. It is also important that the Site Construction Manager leads the site teams in alignment with the SSE Safety Culture and demonstrates SSE core leadership values.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Previous demonstrable experience working on-site on the construction and commissioning of High Voltage Substations or similar major complex HV projects.

- In-depth knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation and CDM 2015 Regulations - ideally within a substation construction environment.

  • Experience working with multiple Contractors/Sub Contractors to drive construction activities to time and budget.
  • Previous site construction management experience within a Transmission or major structural and technical complex projects and an uncompromising drive to achieve quality requirements and experience in monitoring inspection and test plans. You will be capable of challenging others, resolving conflicts and planning site activities.
  • Strong IT (Word, Excel etc) and communication skills are required.
