Role Overview & Responsibilities
With over 30 years in the transport and warehousing industry, McGregor Logistics offers a solution for all General Haulage requirements, from full load deliveries, Biomass transport services, Pallet Network Distribution (Palletways and Pall-Ex), European full load and Network delivery service, Warehousing, Fulfilment and commercial vehicle servicing and repairs.
With its head office based in Warmsworth, Doncaster, and operations in Tilbury Docks and Cardiff, McGregor Logistics operates a large and diverse fleet enabling us to provide a reliable and consistent service to our customers. We have a new fleet of DAF trucks equipped with Double Bunks, Fridge, 24v-240v Inverters, Climate control, leather steering wheel and much more. We operate 150 trailers, including curtain sided trailers, walking floor trailers, Moffett mounted curtain sided trailers, skeletal trailers, refrigerated box trailers and low loaders.
We now have a vacancy for a Class 1 HGV Driver to join our friendly general haulage Tramping team based at Cardiff, preferably for an immediate start.
Role Responsibilities
- Making deliveries and collections across the UK
- Supervising or helping to load and unload goods
- Making sure loads are safely secured.
- Following traffic reports and changing your route if necessary
- Completing delivery paperwork and defect reporting.
- Thorough vehicle checking before each journey.
- Represents the face of the company
- Cleaning of the cab internally and externally (depot facilities available)
Person Requirements
- Class 1 licence is mandatory (C+E)
- Valid CPC and digital tacho card essential
- Two years Class 1 truck driving experience required, preferably Tramping
- Less than 6 points on licence preferred (DR10, DD, CD, TT not accepted)
- Excellent driving skills and road safety knowledge
- Ability to work under pressure
- Able to meet the physical demands of the job eg loading/unloading, coupling/uncoupling, operating curtain-siders etc
- Reliable and flexible to meet the needs of the business
- Safety conscious ensuring that personal, vehicle and load safety, and that of others, is a key priority.
- Polite and customer focused
- Pass internal driver assessment if one is required

Hours
- Hours of work are Monday to Friday
- Overtime may be available at the weekend when drivers hours allow
