Role Overview & Responsibilities

To provide a comprehensive, quality sonographic service to a variety of inpatient and outpatient client groups. To maintain the highest standards of care for all patients undergoing sonographic examinations within the radiology and maternity service, whilst promoting a high standard of technical expertise within all relevant clinical areas.

1. To perform and independently report the following ultrasound examinations; obstetric including gynaecological (TA and TV) early pregnancy, abdominal, small parts and vascular including complex Doppler techniques.
2. To be aware of new techniques and practices in medical ultrasound and to implement them wherever possible.
3. To communicate the outcome of scans to the patient (and clinicians) when appropriate, referring to a Radiologist/Fetal medicine Consultant if further investigations are required in accordance to department protocol.
4. Following the scan provide appropriate support to patients and advise them to return to the referring clinician for the report.
5. Issue a report on Astraia or digital dictation software, ensuring that those patients requiring urgent attention are prioritised in accordance with department protocol.You will support our expanding workload in the Radiology Department and/or Maternity Unit.

You must have good communication skills, a flexible approach and a positive attitude, have a pleasant and friendly manner and be used to working as part of a proactive team.
