Role Overview & Responsibilities

When there is a fire, flood or severe weather, we’re among the first to respond. From making a cup of tea to trekking through snow and sleet to deliver the essentials, we work with other organisations to do what’s needed straight away. We operate as one team and as Emergency Responders, from time to time you may be asked to support the work of other services within the British Red Cross. You may also be asked to help us share information about our work with communities, through outreach activities. We are looking for volunteer who: - should live no more than 30 minutes travelling time from the base at the 3 Joplin Ct, Crownhill, Milton Keynes MK8 0JP. - will sign up to shifts, on a rota totalling at least 24 hours per month, or conduct equivalent volunteering activity. Shifts can be flexible. - are expected to attend as many volunteer team nights as possible, we have one meeting per-month in each of our teams. - Driving is preferable but not essential. If you are driving for this role you should have held a driving licence for at least 2 years which allows you to drive in the UK and have access to a vehicle. **Health and Safety Statement** We take an individual approach to ensuring your safety. As an Emergency Response Volunteer, you will give people the support they need at a time they need it the most.

    Give practical support such as distributing clothing, food or water after an emergency.

    Tell people where they can get extra support.

    Collaborate with local government or emergency services staff.
