Role Overview & Responsibilities
Flamingo Land
Flamingo Land Zoo is looking for an experienced bird keeper to join our team. The successful candidate will work on our two bird sections within the zoo in a permanent role, once a probation period is completed. Flamingo Land is a family run popular theme park and zoo in North Yorkshire, and the zoo is a member of BIAZA and EAZA.
The successful candidate will be working with a range of species including three species of flamingo, Humboldt penguins, various parrot species, hamerkop, waterfowl, etc
.
Experience working with birds is essential.
All of our zookeepers are encouraged to participate in a range of activities which include research and environmental enrichment. The successful candidate would ideally have the Diploma in the Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals (or equivalent). A drivers licence is preferred.
The successful candidate will be expected to be very personable as there is a requirement to communicate well with visitors, including delivering
public talks, encounters and general good customer service. The successful candidate will also be enthusiastic, a good team player and be able to use the correct chain of command whilst doing so.
