Role Overview & Responsibilities

Arts University Plymouth (AUP) is delighted to announce a partnership with KARST (www.karst.org.uk) in Plymouth, UK to offer a free studio space to a 2023 BA (Hons) Fine Art graduate as part of a new AUP Karst Studio Residency programme.

The successful BA (Hons) Fine Art graduate applicant will have a shared studio at KARST with a graduate from Bath Spa University from 1 October 2023 to 31 March 2024.

In addition to workspace there will be access to visiting artists, galleries and curators and you’ll benefit from peer-to-peer exchange with KARST’s active community of 16 studio artists and the wider context such as the associates network CAMP (Contemporary Art Membership Plymouth).

This is a fantastic opportunity to launch your career as a contemporary artist. The selected graduate will also receive £300 at the start of their residency to help with materials and set up costs!

About KARST

KARST is the largest independent contemporary art venue in Plymouth, comprising a free public gallery space and artists’ studios. It was founded in 2012 in the industrial Millbay area of the city and aims to be a testbed for experimentation: from conceptually complex group shows proposed by international curators to projects focussing on individual artists or artistic collaboration.

Deadline for Submissions: Friday 24th June 2023 (5.00pm)

  • Residency dates are 1 October 2023 to 31 March 2024 and are non-negotiable.
