Farm Worker

We offer a unique and permanent position to work in a growing family business at our farm in Tickhill, South Yorkshire where we process 3,000 tons of straw a year for the animal and equestrian industry that is sold all over the UK. The candidate will manage and help with the day to day running of the small family farm, and also work in harvest on the straw contracting team which bales large acreages of straw.

Hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (additional hours as required during harvest)

Salary negotiable

Key duties include:

1. Manage and work alongside existing staff on the straw processing unit

2. To learn the intricate ins and outs of the processing unit and to create an efficient and productive system in producing the best quality animal and equestrian bedding on the market

3. To load straw bales into the plant and to move pallets of bedding whilst loading various wagons that take bedding all over the UK

4. Work on the family arable farm helping with the production of cereals, Miscanthus and hay.

The successful candidate:

1. Must be polite knowledgeable and be able to talk / work with logistic drivers and companies.

2. Will be experienced with farm machinery and have knowledge of tractors, telehandlers and forklifts.

3. Will be forward thinking, very diligent and have an eye for attention to detail.

4. Will be motivated enough to manage yourself and your team of staff.

5. Ideally have some experience working on farms.

6. Will be looking for advancement in their career or to work in a unique agricultural environment.

7. Will be prepared to put in long hours if and when needed at harvest times. We are looking for someone who will become an essential and long standing key member of our team and help take the business forward into the future.
